New arrangement for same day access

We are changing our appointment system for same day access and introducing a duty doctor telephone triage system during surgery hours.

 The system will work in the following way:

  •  The telephone triage will be used when a patient requests urgent assistance for the same day.
  • Patients requesting an urgent appointment will be assigned to the triage doctor for a call back. The receptionist will take some details requested by doctor.
  • The triage doctor will normally telephone the patient within 2 hours, unless the problem is urgent, and will negotiate the appropriate next step.
  • If, after speaking with the patient, the doctor thinks you need to come into the surgery, they will make an appointment for you.

 When you need medical help fast, but it’s not a 999 emergency. Call 111.
