Changes to emergency care across Northumberland and North Tyneside
From June 2015, emergency care is changing across Northumberland and North Tyneside.
All seriously ill or injured people from across Northumberland and North Tyneside will go to the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington where emergency care consultants will be working 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as well as consultants in a range of specialities working seven days a week. Most patients will arrive by blue light ambulance or via emergency GP admission. If you have a serious life threatening emergency, call 999 for an emergency ambulance.
This hospital will treat serious emergencies such as:
– Suspected stroke
– Loss of consciousness
– Persistent and severe chest pain
– Sudden shortness of breath
– Severe abdominal pain
– Severe blood loss
